One Year and 26 Weeks

Hey kids!  I swear this is still a food blog- I'm eating all kinds of food behind the scenes feeding myself and the bebe.  In lieu of my regular weekly update, I have a picture summary instead.

This week went by well in pregnancy-related news.  I went to the doc and I'm measuring on track and the little one's heartbeat sounded great.  I'm steadily gaining the pounds and everything is healthy in that department.  I met the last doctor in my practice and they all seem like decent human beings- decent enough to show up and catch the baby.

The bump is getting bigger and pointier by the day.  My newest party trick is getting my shirts splattered in water when I do the dishes.  Good times, people, good times!

In life news, we spent this weekend celebrating a very important family member- our Chino.  This weekend marked the one year anniversary with our favorite boy.  Adopting Chino one year ago was one of the best things that have ever happened to me and I can say with 100% certainty that he makes us smile every single day.   I get sad thinking about him not being an only child (and yes, he is my child), but I know we'll do our best to adjust to life with him and his little brother.

We took him to the big dog park on our day off and he ran around like a crazy little guy and we had a great time watching him

We loved walking around and watching the sunset.

And hubby took a belly picture for the week once the sun was setting.

I love these moments with my boys and it's great to take a break every once in a while and enjoy the moment, rather than wishing time away.  I think my boy agrees.

25 Weeks

I hope you're having a great week!  I wrote up my 25 week post and then blogger deleted it last night, so I'm a day or two late- typical of me, either way, so let's gooo!

How far along? 25 Weeks.  If all goes well, I have 15 weeks to go, but you can add another week since it's my first baby and I do nothing on time.

Total weight gain/loss: I followed my masochistic desires and weighed myself in the afternoon at the gym this weeken.  I'm definitely up in the 12 - 15 lb range. I'll know for sure at my appointment on Thursday and we'll see if I get in any trouble for the weight gain yet- that could be fun.

Maternity clothes? Yes, maternity jeans, leggings, and mixing what I have in my closet.  I also got this dress at Ross for $9. It's not maternity and therefore I look about 47 months pregnant in it, but I love me a bargain!

Stretch marks? Applying my burt's bees body butter so far to try to prevent them.

Sleep: Sleep is great except for all the potty breaks.

Best moment this week: Baby's furniture got ordered! Thanks grandma Elena and grandpa Stan!

This week's comment of the week:

Not much at all.

Miss Anything? My waist and cheekbones ;) But really, nothing else.

Movement: Lots of movement in the evenings and early morning hours. Hubby can definitely feel him and he's a squirmy little guy!

Food cravings: Fruit, salad, eggs, chocolate. I'm a simple creature.  I have to do something about this sweet tooth and this officially the week of salad to make sure we both get our nutrients in.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nada.

Sex: BOY!

Symptoms: I had a really great pain-free week.  Most days I feel like my normal self, but with a mini keg strapped to my midsection.  I can still bend down and reach my toes, but I often wonder how those middle aged men with the big bellies do it on the daily- it's not easy, folks!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Feeling happy.

Looking forward to: Lots to look forward to- including my baby shower, maternity leave, and meeting my sweet boy.

Exercise: Daily walks with Chino of at least 40 minutes to 60 minutes, 2 cardio workouts, 1 yoga class (womp, womp), and since I was off last Friday, we ended up covering almost 8 miles walking. The goal for this week is 3 yoga practices and pushups 5 times this week.  Homegirl needs so strength- I hear babies can get heavy.

24 Weeks

Hey kids!  Happy Superbowl Sunday.  Since San Francisco lost, I have even less amusement with the game, so I'll probably just watch it for the commercials, as I do something else in the background.  I'm up to 24 weeks now.  In normal calendar time, that's 6 months but since I'm due in late May, I still have a little under 4 months to go.

How far along? 24 Weeks.  This is huge because I have now reached viability.  Little boy needs to stay put and cook, but if he decided to come any time after now, he would have a good chance of survival.

In case you ever wanted to see what I look like talking in mid-sentence...

Total weight gain/loss: My last appointment showed I was up 10 pounds from my starting weight.  I'm probably up another couple of pounds.  I have stopped stepping on the scale since there is really no point.  I can't do much about it now with the exception of not eating the contents of my entire fridge.  Please don't challenge me, because I can probably make a good effort at this point.

Maternity clothes? Yes, maternity jeans, leggings, and I have one maternity top.  The rest are regular clothes.  I did go to a couple of stores and bought a cute pair of black skinny (haha) jeans from H&M's maternity line.  I'm also going to get a couple of things from Old Navy online.  I was not at all impressed with Motherhood Maternity's selection.  I'm already picky, but their selection was awful.  I'm a little upset with the skinny biotch who put all these clothes in my closet that I now can't wear, but I only have under 4 months to go.  Soon it will be warmer out so I can live in maxi dresses and skirts.

Moderately work appropriate wear- half maternity, half regular.

Stretch marks? Applying my burt's bees body butter so far to try to prevent them.

Sleep: Sleep is great.

Best moment this week: Reaching viability, and being about 99% done filling out my registry. Work was also a little more manageable and that made life a little easier.

This week's comment of the week:

Nothing outrageous.  I must not be around a lot of people.

Miss Anything? Starting to miss feeling like myself physically a little bit and regular shopping.  The rest of the time, nothing.

Movement: Lots of movement in the evenings and the kicks are getting stronger.  Hubby can feel the little boy kick at night from the outside and I love it.  The movement has got to be the best part of pregnancy.

Food cravings: Still loving regular food and probably just food in general.  I have been putting hot sauce on most meals and really enjoying fruit.  I have a sweet tooth (pretty much back to regular standards) and I usually have some kind of a treat daily.   With the exception of sweets, I haven't had too many indulgences and I'm still trying to eat as healthy as possible.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nada.

Sex: BOY!  Little boy has a name, but we aren't sharing until he's here.

Symptoms: I'm not sure if this is pregnancy-related, but I started having some shoulder and neck pain.  It fades in and out and I think it's from sleeping on my side.  It has since gone away, but I may have done something to it in yoga yesterday.  Otherwise, I feel like it takes me a while to recover from exercise a little bit longer with muscle soreness.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Feeling happy. I love that I can feel the baby move now and it reassures me that he's doing OK in his home.

Looking forward to: Lots to look forward to- including my baby shower, being done with home renovations, and enjoying time with my family of 3 until everything flips upside down.

Exercise: Daily walks with Chino (except for one evening when hubby took him), 5-mile hike, 2 cardio workouts, 2 yoga classes.  Not bad for a pregnant lady.
