Awesomely Bad Combos

One thing healthy food bloggers are known for is mixing together obnoxious combos and starting a revolution by getting other to follow along.  Have you ever thought of putting cocoa powder, cottage cheese, and protein powder in oats?  How about eating your oats from a near empty peanut butter jar?  Do you have the impulse to mix pumpkin into greek yogurt and sprinkle it with ten superfoods as well?

I've been digging the odd combos lately and wanted to share a couple with you!
First up- a flourless wrap by Alvarado Street Bakery filled with sliced apples and a slice a gouda cheese.  The cheeze and apple combo were awesome.  I also had it with the rest of the apple and sugar snap peas.  'Twas fabulous!

Next was cauliflower and green beans sauteed in veggie stalk then I added tomatoes and when the veggie stalk began to reduce, scrambled in two whole eggs.  I accidentally spilled half of my remains of nooch and drowned it in spicy peanut dressing.  It was surprising good, healthy, filling and high protein!  I called this dinner.

I mixed up my workout with:
  • 5 minute warm up on the elliptical
  • 15 minute interval run on the treadmill
  • 10 minutes of intervals on the stairmill
  • 5 back exercises that I can't even describe, but they took me about 25 minutes to complete
I've been guilty of falling into the cardio princess zone so I've been doing shorter, more intense spurts of cardio mixed with lifting.  I have been supervised by my personal trainer (hubby) and haven't been able to have full use of my arms in about three days, so I'm assuming I'm on the right track!

I LOVE apples and gouda cheese! I love all fruit and cheese together, but gouda is especially great!

mmm apples and cheese is not wierd at ALL its delicious esp granny smith and real chedder! SO good.

to mix up my workouts, I love to add cardio on btwn my weight training, jumpin jacks, jump squats, running on the bosu ball, anything that gets my HR up and keeps me sweatin!

I'm currently obsessed with nooch on EVERYTHING, which is definitely a bloggie influence!! This post actually just gave me the idea to sprinkle it on apples...I wonder how it'll turn out!! Have a great day!!

hahaha, i know what you mean about food bloggers and their weird combos!! sometimes they really work and sometimes...not. at. all.

i have to say though, oats in a jar is a beautiful idea :).

I lover gouda! Your awesomely bad combos sound delish! I will definitely try the apple and gouda combo!!!

I am mainly a cardio girl, running, spinning, elliptical you name it. But I wasn't getting the results I hoped for, I have incorporated weight training and I am loving it!

Apples and Cheese are my best friend. I do Granny Smith and spreadable Laughing Cow. So good :)

Lately I am doing the banana and nut butter combo. Simple but so delish!

My fave combo right now is Artisana Coconut Butter on everything!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol!! Love that stuff!!!!

I always do yoga. i mix up the kind or flow though :)

oh i know what you mean about cardio- it is so much more entertaining to me then weight lifting! and hahaha about the food combos- this is SO TRUE. but whatev- it all tastes delicious :) and apples & cheese is amazing together.

I have been doing the same thing with trying to add more lifting to my work out. I am usually all cardio too. Tonight I am trying a trampoline class so that should mix it up a bit!

I love cheese and apples together! Pear and cheese is good too... My favorite combo right now is banana, coconut, and peanut butter. SO GOOD! :)

haha, it's so true, since I've become a blogger, I have tried out the most random combinations of food!! What people come up with sometimes is just unreal. I have to agree with the others though, apples and cheese is AWESOME.

Mixing up my workouts is what I love to do. I do yoga and pilates on some days, lifting on others, and walking or elliptical on others. ALWAYS different!

I loveee apples and cheese...or really, any fruit and cheese. It's my favorite during the summer too, watermelon and mozzarella was a snack my mom always used to feed us!

THAT is my favorite thing about blogging! I love trying all the combos I see on blogs...I recently tried a Tofu Salad Recipe that I saw on Naomi's blog...and I have a jar of almost empty PB calling my name!!! OIAJ in the best invention EVER! lol

Hmmm I am switching up my workout, by training for my 1st 5k =)
