Because it's a weekend, I can have a leisurely breakfast with my favorite boys.
Because it's the weekend, I can run errands and stop for Jamba Juice green juice on the way.
Because it's the weekend, I can have steamed milk with peppermint cocoa.
What do you do because it's the weekend?

Oh Yeah - October
In the words of the pop princess, "Oops I did it again." A whole month without blogging and now here I come crawling back. In the last month I've been on a travel spree with almost a week in Atlanta, and just working away.
Oh, and food- there has been food along with it all, because a young lady has got to eat! I needed a lot of energy to focus on my trip.
Pumpkin yogurt in the airport
Ceasar salad in the hotel at midnight
Hotel room all to myself
In the last weeks since being back, we have been working away on the kitchen. It's not quite 100% done yet- but here is a sneak preview. I am 1000% in love with it and I'll post some good before and after pictures once we are all done.
Another couple of things that I am 100% in love with are my boys. We went to an enormous dog park today and walked around and let the beast run free. It was a fabulous day.
What are you loving these days? If I have any readers left, tell me what's new in your lives.

Weekend in Pictures
Oh weekends. I can't say enough good things about weekends. When other people are slow at work during the summer, I am in my busy season and can't wait for the beautiful time of 5:00 PM on Friday. This weekend was just as great as all the rest and sitting here on Sunday, it's just not long enough!
We ate a lot of delicious food and spent a lot of time with family. I knew it would be a great weekend when this was the view I saw on Friday night while walking the fluffy one.
We got to see this (not so) little guy and his parents and somebody had an Angry Birds marathon together.
We digested our dinner by going out on a bike ride/walk for the little ones and made it up to see a beautiful view.
Spent time enjoying each other's company on the couch (check out the angry birds toys)!
Oh- and there was dessert- my reason for life. We ate my mom's new creation- a raspberry cheese tart made with cottage cheese. Amazing.
We also enjoyed some homemade chocolate covered strawberry kabobs made by my sister-in-law.
Oh, and today? Husband brought me this beautiful dessert and it will be demolished later tonight.

Weekend In Numbers
I'm always just about a couple of days behind so it's perfectly appropriate that I post about my weekend on Monday night at 10:00 PM, when most of my readers will get to it on Tuesday morning. I'm smart like that.
Anyways, I hope you had a nice weekend! Mine was not really relaxing, but we got shiz done and for that I am thankful. Here is my weekend in numbers:
2: Number of waffles consumed this weekend for breakfast
6: Number of home improvement stores visited this weekend. If anyone knows me, this is a big deal. I get the cold sweats and feel sick to my stomach in these places, but it had to be done and I'm so excited for the renovations coming to our house!
I got a little bit of cabin fever in the car if you can't tell ;)
4: Number of walks taken with my furball.
11: Number of miles walked this weekend
3: Number of favorite creatures in this picture taken at the farmer's market
Countdown till next weekend: 4 more days!

Scenes From a Weekend
Thanks again for hanging in there and coming back to see my blog and to read my trip recaps. Before I bombard you with another posting of gratuitous photography, I'm going back and doing a regular post. This weekend was so good, SO good! I spent time outdoors with a hike each morning, took 3 yoga classes (even one with my mother-in-law!) and worked out with the husband. We ate delicious food, got help on remodeling, and got to see both of our families. My heart was so happy ;)
These boys- they are obsessed with Angry Birds and ended up playing together for much of the evening.
We took home leftovers and made delicious grilled wraps and I may have hit a new veggie consumption high. I may have also hit a new popsicle high this weekend too.
My favorite breakfast this weekend was a slice of quiche from Costco with salad. It worked and I was powered up for the day. Veggies for breakfast is the new black.
Anything you are looking forward to this weekend?

I'm One of Those People
Hi Blog Friends. I hope you are having a great long weekend if you are off on Monday. We are keeping busy this weekend with our new family addition. Don't worry, I haven't gestated a baby without telling you (although that's what both of our parents thought when we told them)- we adopted this baby boy.
Chino is 2.5 years old and a very well-behaved Shar Pei who was left by his owners at the Marin Human Society because they moved across the country. He likes naps, long walks, sniffing poles of all kinds, staring down ducks and squirrels, and he might be starting to like us. He doesn't like loud noises or toys. He's far too serious for toys.
We are thrilled to have this little guy as our first family pet and it was nice to have him lay by my side as I spent all day sick in bed yesterday. My new sous-chef says hello;)

Say Cheese
Thank you guys for all of the kind comments of congratulations and for sticking around. This weekend was great! I spent time with the hubby, got in some yoga, bike rides, a little running, and housework. Of course there was food- because that's really what I'm all about.
On Saturday we hit up Costco. In addition to the time and money I'll never get back, I did come out with a really cool product- this local to me, organic cheese. Disclosure: I was not paid to talk about this product and purchased it with my own money because of my own beliefs.
This cheese is from the Sierra Nevada Cheese Company and they are located in Northern California, about an hour away from me and comes from happy California cows. So far we have tried the garlic & herb flavor and it was great. I used it to make the husband a quesadilla for dinner tonight.
We also had another local product- carrots grown in our backyard garden.
This week is going to be another busy one- I'm making a better effort at cutting down my stress by being a little more organized and planning better. Let's see how it goes!
Questions: Do you have any favorite local products? What did you do this weekend?

Hit the Jackpot
First...an update-I got the green flag to proceed with any physical activities that I
wanted to do as long as my foot felt fine and what do I do? YOGA! I'm
hooked guys. I'll be doing some posts on my favorite classes at YogaWorks and am excited to share with you.
My weekend started with a bang when I made a pit stop at Whole Foods right after my yoga class on Saturday morning. I knew I had to get my hands on the new trendy trend with ya'll. Look what I got: Jackpot!
They do exhist! So far I have tried a half of the carrot cake...and it does not taste like carrot cake to me, but still good! I also got some coconut water to keep myself hydrated like when I'm sitting on my bum at the office and stuff.
We continued our adventure to the beach. Again, this is a Northern California beach, so I wore sweats and walked along the ocean while my partner in crime surfed.
Today was spent running errands, doing homework, and hanging out with a few of my select posse. I found this picture on my phone as evidence of two of my favorite boys. Love.
I'm feeling rested and ready to conquer my week! And since I've kept my face off of here long enough and I got a new summer dress, here is one that hubby snapped of me.
See you later this week!
Tell me the last new food product you got that you just HAD to try because of the blog peeps?

Still a Blogger
I think I may have um...forgotten about blogging. I was under the false impression that this was a slow time for me given it's summer and all. I guess I'm wrong but I have still been enjoying the season as much as I can being an adult and such. Even if I'm not around on a daily basis I'm still a food blogger deep down.
Even if I can't run miles, I can still walk on the trail by my house as my body recovers.
Even if I don't buy 100% organic, I can get excited about our first pesticide-free tomato harvest.
Even when I don't post my daily meals, I'm still eating hummus and fresh veggies like it's my job. I'm also eating frozen yogurt and chocolate because they are awesome.
Even when I'm not posting daily workouts or race recaps, I am out taking awesome hikes and am grateful that I can wear shoes!
Even if I'm not next to the computer on weekends, I'm out enjoying nature on my first REAL camping trip.
Even if I'm not looking my best or glamorous in pictures, I'm quite happy with life and learning to be content with myself.
Question for you: What are you doing when the blogosphere isn't watching?
I'll be back with regular nonsense on a more regular basis. I miss my blog friends and hope everyone is enjoying this warm weather!

Oh Yeah, I Have a Blog
Hey Guys! So sorry to love you and leave you. I kept wanting to update ya'll and then things like the two papers that I am working on for school got in the way among other things like work, the gym, and the sunshine. It's been absolutely gorgeous here and apparently good weather makes me too hyper to blog!
First- you are absolutely fabulous and eat the same stuff several times a day. Here is the da list:
In an effort to not bore you to death with a plethora of apples/yogurt/almond butter/chocolate food recaps, I am going to run you through a quick highlights reel:
Best breakfast- Orowheat thins french toast with frozen pomegranate arils on top and a homemade frothy latte outside. Love.
True story- hubby had the same thing, but more and with less fruit.
Best post-workout meal: Green monster in a humongous beer glass/vase:
True story- our florist gave these to us- she used these to hold the bridal party bouquets to recognize my hubby's love of beer.
Best workout: Several nights ago I was at the gym running on the revolving apparatus of boredom when I saw how gorgeous it was outside. I decided to take off and ran home instead. Look at the trail I ran on- better than being inside!
True story- Mari inspired me to get out there and conquer my fear of running outside. I ran for 20 minutes and walked the rest and it was fabulous.
Best weekend errand: In an effort to keep me from having my typical panic attack at Home Depot (what?! they have no shoes or chocolate for me to look at) my hubby put me in charge of picking two new mini cacti plants. It kept me amused for the ten minutes it took him to buy many pounds of animal manure for our garden.
True story: We got the yellow one and a bright orange one. I named them because they were so cute.
I've cooked, baked, and packed up some lunches. I've been wavering a little from my health and need a little more structure in my life, so I'm reinstating the power to say no to myself every once in a while this week in an effort to feel better and more energetic. Sometimes chocolate for dinner is not the best option and I recognize that! I'm off to catch some zzzzz's and get ready for the excitement that awaits me this week (insert fake corporate smile here)!!
Questions for you:
1. What is your favorite weeekend errand to run? I actually love weekend errands, but of course I love grocery shopping and the farmer's market best. Also anything that involves Target!
2. What's your favorite strategy to feel your best when it comes to health? Mine is lots of water, green tea, and trying lots of new veggies and fruits!
First- you are absolutely fabulous and eat the same stuff several times a day. Here is the da list:
- coffee (me too!)
- bananas
- apples
- peanut butter
- greek yogurt
- almonds
- strawberries
- almond butter
- hummus
- cheese
- granola
- Doritos, granola bars, yogurt, clif bars, meat, ice cream, and cheese
