This is What I Ate

Since I started blogging at some point almost two years ago, I think I have been trying to emulate some of the great, classic food bloggers.  I took pictures of my meals, snacks, coffee cups, and empty nut butter jars to my heart's desire.  I talked about the cookies I inhaled and I also talked about how I loved Mondays simply because it was a fresh start.  While it was a great structure and format to follow, it's just not me

I am chaotic, busy, hyper, forgetful and goofy.  Plus, I hate being told what to do (just ask my parents or husband).  Put the word 'diet' in front of me, and I do an ADD-induced mind backflip.

So why am I telling you this when I randomly took pictures of two of my meals today?  It was not to show you my sub-par photography skillz.  I did it because it was kinda fun.  I always marvel at what people eat on a normal basis because it gives me great ideas and inspires me to eat healthier.
Garden fresh tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, Arnold®/Oroweat® Sandwich Thins®, part skim mozzarella cheese (I received the Sandwich Thins as part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program)

I also love preparing myself quick and easy meals, even when it's just for myself.  I enjoy simple, quick meals and I love supplementing them with snacks along the way to keep myself awake, alert, and energized.
Trader Joe's seafood blend, cucumbers, tomatoes, mango salsa, guacamole on a bed of spring mix

There are many, many definitions of what is healthy.  For me, it's being relaxed about food while getting in all my vitamins.  Real food is delicious and tastes great.  It keeps me energized and gives me the energy to live life- which is really all we remember in the end.  Health is about living life, enjoying the sunshine, and capturing memories outside of a smoothie, although that sounds really good right about now!

What does health mean to you?

I totally understand what you mean. I'm still trying to find my blog "style" LOL. I'm having fun with it.
Health to me means living a balanced and whole life. Taking care of your mind and body as best as you can. Also, having fun. Cause without fun, what's the point?

I HATE being told what to do too!! Health to me means being happy, comfortable and confident, but also eating things I love. It's all about balance!

I've had a hard time finding my style as well. Health to me is everything in moderation.

Health means being happy with who I am, inside and out and eating in a balanced way.

I agree...my blog started out as a food journal with every single thing I ate, then how I ate too much at night but would start fresh the next day. I try to just post meals that are interesting now and share other exciting life events. Health to me is about enjoying life, eating fresh foods, exercising, and having healthy relationships.

healthy is about balance-never having a treat isn't healthy, but never touching any food that is green isn't healthy either.

For me, being healthy is having balance in your life that makes your body feel good. :)

Health means eating the most wholesome and nutritious foods as often as possible but not feeling bad for the not so healthy items. It's being active in a way you enjoy. Basically its doing your own thing!

I like seeing what people eat on occasion bec its a good way to get ideas, but I get bored easily if that is ALL they talk about.

Health to me means moderation in every area of life besides happiness. Moderation in exercise, moderation in treats, even moderation in veggies (as in, don't forget about the indulgent foods you love). It's all a balance!

I think being healthy is just doing your best to make good choices in your food and exercise habits, not overtraining, and listening to your belly when it wants ice cream.

I love your take on what health means to you! I have similar views! I honestly believe that we were meant to enjoy life and not have to spend hours at the gym or deprive ourselves of unhealthier foods. I DO believe in eating REAL, WHOLE foods as much as possible, but life is too short to stress the small stuff!

Oh yes, I agree with you 100%. I am not, and never will be one to take pictures of everything I eat, and post them on my blog. I am not out to prove myself or prove to anyone that my diet is great and needs to be showcased. I don't want to have people looking and analyzing my diet! It's weird, and like you said I want to be relaxed about my food choices, and eat when I want, WHAT I want! It will usually be very healthy, but if it's not, no one shall know but me ;)

A big part of health, to me, is caring about oneself enough to reduce stress to the point where the mind can think clearly. Then, you can work on making all of the body-based health decisions, like food and exercise. Health is mind and body :)
