I Eat the Same Food

Happy Monday or Sunday, depending on when you are reading.  I hope you are all doing fabulous today.  I've been around and making my way through work, work travel, and making sure that I show my face at home often enough to be recognized by my husband.  I'm not sure it's working.

I have found that since I started my first healthy eating journey, nearly 14 years ago, I have been a creature of habit.  I once went on a diet where I cycled boiled chicken breast, cottage cheese, and plain rice every three days.  That did NOT inspire me to stay on a healthy eating journey.  In the fat free haze that we all like to call the 90s, I ate gummy bears and bagels, because no fat = healthy. Duh!  I also watched way too many episodes of Friends, but I'll let that slide.  Let's not even talk about the lifetime supply of Balance Yogurt Honey Peanut bars that I hoarded for my 'protein needs' during the low carb madness.

Years later, I find myself still eating the same things over and over again, simply out of convenience and because I hate change.  Thank goodness I don't blog my daily eats, (for several reasons).

Take for example the salad that I have been demolishing on a daily basis.

I started with the following ingredients:

  • a ripe bartlett pear
  • my new favorite honey goat cheese (from Trader Joe's. run there and get yo'self some...no regrets)
  • roasted tofu
  • almond slices
  • a fresh bed of organic herb greens
  • dressing of choice (I used balsamic)
It's easy, simple, healthy, hits all my food groups, and allows for my daily lunch dessert.

This salad, though not representative of my daily eats, is me.  In my brief time away from complete immersion in blogs, I realized that my way, is the best way for me.  I don't run- in fact, I have not done structured cardio in over a month.  Are you still reading?
I don't eat/ingest/inhale protein powder because I don't need it.  I also haven't budged since canned pumpkin has hit the shelves and changed lives (we have it year round here- I didn't even notice the difference).  I love having an outlet to write and share and I have to admit I'm a sucker for chia seeds and almond butter.  I love yoga and strength classes, and a walk outside in the fresh air is ten times better than the dreadmill.  However, I eat the same food almost on a daily basis, and I'm cool with that.

Are there any foods you eat repeatedly?  I'm sure I'm not the only one :)

I definitely get into routines with foods ... and there are many things that I eat repeatedly. I love goat cheese BTW, and that honey goat cheese has me intrigued!

oh no way you're not alone! I eat the same things all the time. I have eaten a honeycrisp apple for breakfast everyday for the past week. It's all I'm craving!

usually on sundays i make several meals for lunch and dinner and eat that for a week... but my go to meal would be something with eggs... they are cheap and healthy lol

I used to eat the same thing EVERY SINGLE DAY, which was super disordered and not fun. From there, I progressed to eating more variety and now I switch it up a lot!! The blog really encourages me to try new things, though sometimes I'm happy to eat the same thing four days in a row :)

There is nothing wrong with eating the same foods every day! I usually eat the same things for a month straight until I get completely sick of them! I am done trying to follow the blog trends. I don't like pumpkin oats no matter how many different ways I try them!

I definitely eat similar foods on a regular basis or rotate certain meals we really like.... we've been on a lasagna kick recently... we also used to make taco salads ALL the time. Just depends on our mood for what kind of "food rut" we will be in!

no definitely NOT the only one. me and sweet potatoes go hand in hand almost daily.. same with muffins. most food gets rotated which makes me "think" im versatile but im not lol <3

Oh I totally get into routines especially with breakfast and lunch. I pretty much eat the same breakfast every morning (oatmeal with either apples or bananas and PB) and a very similar salad for lunch. Why fix it if it ain't broke right ;-)

Oh yes, I definitely eat the same foods (mostly) everyday! Often I eat the same foods, but just make minor tweaks. For example, I'll eat my oats with PB and pumpkin one morning, and then AB and blueberries the next. I do the same with my lunches. Like you said, it works for me and I'm totally cool with it! Still on the healthy track, and when I get sick of my foods, I'll make a change!

Yep, I find myself eating the same foods repeatedly - bananas, peanuts, and almond butter are my 3 comfort foods, and grapes and Honeycrisp apples are addictive. Tostito chips are my weakness. My doctor has tried putting me on a rotation diet where I eat the same foods only every 4 days (almond butter Sunday and not again until Thursday) because of multiple food sensitivities, and it's been SO HARD!

That salad looks delicious by the way. Good enough to eat every day :)

I eat the same foods constantly! It's part of the reason why I can't blog my daily eats....every day would be almost the same!
