Cookie Monster

Last night I made some (usually empty) promises about a cookie review, so here it is!

Nutridel is based out of Southern California and was created by owner Martha Lofte.  The cookies are sold in coffee shops mostly in the So Cal area and are now making their way to the Bay Area.  I was really excited to try this alternative to the typical coffee house scone.  We got the Pecan and Flax flavors:

They kinda remind me of pizelles in thickness and the texture is crunchy and hearty.  You could really taste the pecan and they were mildly sweet and very subtle, almost like a cracker.

My husband also tried one and he said it "tasted like a healthy cookie" and I agree.  At no point did I think that I was eating a brownie or a gooey chocolate chip cookie but I loved the wholesome taste of these.  While my husband said he would never buy them, I think I might, although the price of them is a little steep at $2.50 per 2-pack.  However, when you walk into a Starbucks and they charge you $2.00 for over 600 calories of treat, these are a great bang for your nutritional buck at only 57 cals per cookie.  Here is my attempt at sharing the nutritional facts with you:

The site does a much better job of showing the nutrition facts:

I loved the suggestions offered on the site of what to do with them.  These were taken directly from a bunch of food bloggers:

Here are some different ways you can enjoy a healthy cookie:
  • Top them with grated apple or sliced bananas and drizzle with honey or agave nectar.
  • Make a nutritious “sandwich” by spreading any nut butter of your liking over your favorite cookie and top with another cookie.
  • Crumble over frozen yogurt.
  • Break in large pieces and “dip” in yogurt or kefir.
I could not disappoint and chose to have it with almond butter and um, chocolate frosting.

In other news, I tried my first Zumba class and it rocked my face off!  I had so much fun and even though this was my first class, my Caucasian Rhythm Disorder did not act up and I shook my thang like crazy!  It was a rare event that I made it home by 6:30 but I would love to take these classes in the future.  I got a full workout and definitely got my sweat on and this was a welcome change from talking myself into 5 more minutes on the machines.

Have a great night!  It's almost Friday- Happy dance!!!

I've never tried Zumba before... I've heard so many great things about it, though. I'm thinking I might look into a class offered next semester. Let me know if you keep going to the class, I'd love to hear more about it!
